Meet Oliver!

What does a therapy dog do?

Studies have found that interacting with a dog can elevate levels of serotonin and dopamine, which calm and relax.

Since animals are a nonjudgmental presence, they can also help people who get scared or stressed out in difficult situations. Just by behaving normally and wagging his tail, Oliver can help you feel calmer.

Oliver is a therapy dog in training. He’s an exceptionally calm, friendly and most importantly, cuddly terrier mix.

He is a rescue from Mexico and is about 3 years old. Oliver joins me in the office on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. Would you like to have Oliver join you for your session?

What is Oliver like during a session?

In a session, he'll generally be a quiet and calming presence. He may cuddle next to you (he loves getting cuddles) or he may hang out on his doggie bed. Treats are always on hand if you’d like to offer some.

Does he have any special training?

Oliver has completed basic obedience training (good dog!). Soon he will be completing some special assessments. That being said, it’s really a dog’s calm and friendly temperament that makes him a good therapy dog, and Oliver’s got that in spades.

Is Oliver hypoallergenic?

Yes, he is.

Even Oliver needs a rest after a session sometimes!

I was really nervous before my first session with my partner, so it helped to have Oliver there. He calmed me down and helped me concentrate.”
