👩‍🏫Couples Workshops vs. Couples Counselling

Many couples come to me because they’re tired of feeling stuck in the same patterns. They’re eager to make changes and want to do it fast. I’ve begun offering couples workshops for folks like these. I’ve seen how powerful it can be when partners step away from daily stress and focus on their relationship in a concentrated, supportive environment.

Counselling is valuable, but workshops create momentum — giving couples practical tools, guided practice, and a chance to reconnect in ways that can spark lasting change.

In this post, I’ll walk you through what a couples workshop is and whether it might be the next right step for you.

Why Choose a Couples Workshop?

A couples workshop can give your relationship the reset it needs — concentrated time together, away from daily distractions, to reconnect, recharge, and learn tools that actually work. It is based on the science-backed methods of Drs. John and Julie Gottman and Emotionally-Focused Therapy (EFT).

What You'll Discover:

🎯 The Science of Lasting Love

Discover what thriving couples do differently (backed by decades of research).

💬 Crack the Communication Code

Get the exact words and techniques that turn arguments into breakthroughs

🔧 A Ready-to-Use Relationship Toolkit

Practice proven techniques you can use the next time conflict shows up.

👥 Get Your Customized Game Plan

Get personal coaching for your unique dynamics—no one-size-fits-all advice.

🎉 The Spark, Rekindled

Create rituals and experiences that bring joy, closeness, and fun back into your relationship.

The benefits of couples workshops:

  • You’ll be able to transform conflict into connection — even if it feels like you’ve been going in circles

  • You can reignite intimacy and closeness — in ways that feel natural and comfortable

  • You’ll take home practical, research-backed strategies you can use right away

  • You’ll build lasting habits that keep your relationship strong long after the workshop

  • It’s economical - you can get all of this for less than the cost of three counselling sessions!

What to Expect

In my workshop, I’ll be offering a dynamic mix of:

  1. Teaching – Short, interactive, research-based lessons with clear takeaways

  2. Practice – Time to try new skills with your partner in a supportive setting

  3. Coaching – Personalized guidance from Aleesa or a guest couples therapist

Your Workshop Includes

This workshop is stuffed full of goodies. It will include:

✔️ Coffee, tea, and light snacks
✔️ A confidential one-on-one mini coaching session with a therapist
✔️ A take-home kit of communication strategies and tools
✔️ Option to complete the Gottman Relationship Checkup (small additional fee)
✔️ Discounted access to the full Gottman resource library
✔️ Personalized recommendations to keep your relationship growing at home

Are You A Good Fit?

This workshop is open to all couples — all ages, sexual orientations, relationship styles (monogamous, polyamorous, open, CNM/ENM, etc.), and religious or cultural backgrounds.

However, if you’re currently navigating ongoing infidelity, substance use, or domestic violence, this workshop isn’t the right setting. Clinical counselling is the safer, more supportive option in those situations.
